Positioning Strategy for Early Stage Startups

Positioning
Product Marketing

The path to product-market-fit will be filled with incorrect positioning.

And that’s okay… because you’re working with an MVP.

Minimum

Viable

Positioning

Minimum

  • you have to at least take a STAB at what market segment will get the best use out of your product

Viable

  • you have to figure out ENOUGH to craft a message to even discern if anyone will care

Positioning

  • it has to actually get USED in an asset and put in front of actual potential customers.

Startups get wrapped around the axle trying to nail the perfect positioning for their product launches.

But realistically…

  • their positioning will need to change multiple times
  • over and over
  • very often

Pre-product-market-fit startups should think of product marketing more like the Lean Startup and less like a brand exercise.

"The database has been truly invaluable to me as I build out my product marketing messaging for pre-selling a landing page for the SaaS app I'm building. Thank you so much for making this knowledge accessible for early-stage founders!"
